Your Pride In London

Pride in London means many things to many people, it belongs to our community and it belongs to you; come and join the conversation!

Pride in London has a renewed sense of purpose to highlight the challenges still facing the LGBT+ community today despite progress. We are run by a group of volunteers who are passionate about equality and diversity and are drawn from all walks of life. Pride aims to raise awareness of LGBT+ issues and campaign for the freedoms that will allow all of our community to live their lives on a genuinely equal footing.

Around 250 people volunteer year-round to help us deliver what has become a world-class Pride. It is our intention for Pride in London to best represent all parts of our community and we continue to actively encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, particularly women, People of Colour and those from the trans and non-binary communities. All applications are important to us so if you’d like to be part of the future of Pride in London please register your interest or share this opportunity with your network.

What we are looking for

If you're someone who lives and breathes user-centred design, then this could be the role for you. We're after UXers who are passionate about inclusivity and accessibility to help us create meaningful digital experiences for the queer community.

Over the past few years, we've built our own bespoke website and app from the ground up. Now that we've got a great foundation to build on, we're beginning to test and experiment with new ideas. We want to support our community year round, but we need UX support to help us figure out the best way to do that.

The Digital team is focused on understanding the community’s needs and observing their behaviours so that we can build the right solutions to solve their problems. Whether that's a year round events platform or this very volunteer application site, we create and evolve it, making sure that it is beautiful, accessible and delightful to use.

In this role you'll be:

  • Designing and iterating products and services that meet both business and user needs
  • Responsible for the end-to-end journey of our users
  • Supporting our Analytics team in UI/UX and usability research
  • Collaborating with Product, Research and Tech teams to create journeys and experiences to meet both users and business needs
  • Suggesting and leading on our A/B testing strategy based on user insight/analytics

What you get out of it:

  • Peer review of your work from other designers to help you learn and grow
  • The chance to take part in and learn about design processes you've less experience in e.g. usability testing
  • Experience mentoring and educating stakeholders in the importance of UX design
  • To experiment with new software and/or design methodologies
  • The opportunity to define the digital experience for the second largest event in London

How much time we need:

Each week you'll usually spend between 4-8 hours on Pride work. This includes a mixture of catchups, meetings and actual work. Depending on the projects we have on the go some weeks will be busier than others, but we know everyone has full time jobs and social lives so try to give plenty of notice of what's coming up. We don't count it as Pride time, but the Digital team are a pretty social team and get together when we can for fun too.

We need amazing, talented people to join our growing Product Design team. We strive to create amazing user experiences, and make a difference to the LGBTQ community. The digital team here at Pride is dedicated to understanding our users, their needs and behaviours. We're looking for people who are passionate about creating digital products across web and app through great user experience and design.

What you’ll get joining Pride in London

  • A friendly and welcoming induction course and a variety of training that’s offered throughout the year
  • An opportunity to get new and relevant professional experience
  • A chance to broaden your professional network
  • Play an important part in delivering the Pride in London event
  • Social opportunities to meet the diverse and friendly bunch who volunteer for Pride in London

Or, know someone who would be a perfect fit? Let them know!

Our Culture

Our volunteers are driven and passionate about what they do. Putting on one of London's largest one-day events requires dedication and perseverance.

Although a lot of our work is completed remotely, there will be plenty of opportunities to meet with your team and others throughout the year to not only plan what's ahead but to socialise too.

We're looking for enthusiastic people to join the organisation so we can provide a platform for every part of London’s LGBT+ community.
