Your Pride In London 

Pride in London means many things to many people, it belongs to our community and it belongs to you; come and join the conversation!

Pride in London has a renewed sense of purpose to highlight the challenges still facing the LGBT+ community today despite progress. We are run by a group of volunteers who are passionate about equality and diversity and are drawn from all walks of life. Pride aims to raise awareness of LGBT+ issues and campaign for the freedoms that will allow all of our community to live their lives on a genuinely equal footing. 

Around 250 people volunteer year-round to help us deliver what has become a world-class Pride. It is our intention for Pride in London to best represent all parts of our community and we continue to actively encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, particularly women, People of Colour and those from the trans and non-binary communities. Your new team

Our fundraising team is key to making Pride in London happen. The event is expensive to run and the show couldn’t go on without their efforts encouraging generous donations from thousands of individuals every year. The team work tirelessly year round across a range of activities from running glamorous events like our Gala Dinner, to partnering with community groups or simply hitting the streets with a Pride in London fundraising bucket.

The fundraising team is responsible for growing financial donations and commercial income that allow Pride in London to continue to grow the event and its support of the LGBT+ community. You will be part of a team that is responsible for generating high levels of income. One of the key funding streams is through the sale of stalls for various organisations to interact with attendees across the footprint of the day of Pride.

Your new volunteer role

Reporting into the Director of Strategic Partnerships & Fundraising, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Fundraising Team. Typical responsibilities include:-

•    Supporting and developing a fundraising strategy; 

•    Supporting heads of teams with key events; 

•    Running team meetings; 

•    Working on the cross-organisational Working Group for fundraising; 

•    Working with marketing and communications on ensuring fundraising events are promoted and advertised; 

•    Attending events as a representative of Fundraising team as required. 

•    Deputising for the Director at board meeting as required. 

•    You may from time-to-time be asked to act up in the absence of the Director 

The role requires a commitment of around 6-8 hours per week which may increase as Pride in London gets closer. You may need to be available to attend meetings at evenings and weekends.  

Who you are

We are looking for someone with good people management skills; ability to manage a team of volunteers; project management skills and experience; ability to work in a team and collaborate with others; and good communication skills.

It is essential that you have knowledge of fundraising, ideally across multiple fundraising streams. Some marketing knowledge would be desirable, as would stewardship/supporter journey knowledge.

This role would be suitable for someone with a background of working in the fundraising sector at a senior level.

Our volunteers are driven and passionate about what they do. Putting on one of London's largest one-day events requires dedication and perseverance. 

Although a lot of our work is completed remotely, there will be plenty of opportunities to meet with your team and others throughout the year to not only plan what's ahead but to socialise too.
