Your Pride In London 

Pride in London means many things to many people, it belongs to our community and it belongs to you; come and be part of a transformational change!

Pride in London has a renewed sense of purpose to highlight the challenges still facing the LGBT+ community today despite progress. We are run by a group of volunteers who are passionate about equality and diversity and are drawn from all walks of life. Pride aims to raise awareness of LGBT+ issues and campaign for the freedoms that will allow all of our community to live their lives on a genuinely equal footing. 

Around 250 people volunteer year-round to help us deliver what has become a world-class Pride. It is our intention for Pride in London to best represent all parts of our community and we continue to actively encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, particularly women, People of Colour and those from the trans and non-binary communities. This is an exciting volunteer opportunity to be part of the team responsible for leading the marketing and reputation of Pride in London. As we look towards the 50th anniversary of Pride in London in 2022, you will play a pivotal role in engaging with local, national and global audiences and managing the reputation of Pride in London throughout the year.

This role is an essential part of our leadership team. We continue to actively encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, particularly women, people of colour, bisexual, trans and non-binary communities who we would love to see more widely represented in our organisation. 

Your role

You will be responsible for shaping campaign strategy and managing the development and integrity of the Pride in London brand.

Pride in London is known for its award winning campaigns like #nofilter, #freedomto and #lovehappenshere, and the person taking on this role will take on the task of leading the creation and delivery of future campaigns that reflect the diversity of all of London's LGBT+ communities, and that builds our reputation and relevance on a national and international scale.

Our marketing is issue-led and focussed on our Pride event, informed by research within our community. You will be instrumental in shaping the focus of this work.

  • Develop our marketing and brand strategies and campaign briefs with the leadership of the Director of Marketing and Communications. You will consult with other parts of the Pride in London organisation, our LGBT+ community  members and key stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Planning and delivering campaigns,  maintaining our diversity and inclusivity standards in all marketing executions, without exception.
  • Ensuring support is provided for Pride in London sub-brands. 
  • Being the 'guardian' of our brand standards and guidelines and ensuring these are understood and used by the Pride in London wider team and other stakeholders including sponsors.
  • Shaping leading and managing the team that helps to deliver our campaigns (with a team of people reporting directly to you).
  • Overseeing the design and reporting of Pride in London marketing research; whether to inform campaign development or evaluate impact.
  • Ensuring that sponsor marketing activation happens in a timely and seamless fashion in accordance with contractual terms.
  • Appointing, briefing and liaising with external suppliers, agreeing contractual terms (in partnership with our legal team), negotiating the best possible terms for the organisation wherever possible and ensuring delivery standards are met or exceeded.
  • Ensuring that the core volunteer team our equipped with the knowledge and tools to support the promotion of our brand and campaign messages in all of our channels.

Your Profile

You will have a proven track record in marketing at a senior level, preferably including experience of working with LGBTQ+ audiences and ideally with a broad base of experience across different types of media and activation.  You will be able to evidence how they have helped to build brands.

You will be able to balance a strategic outlook with creative vision. You’ll demonstrate a strong understanding of the aims of Pride in London and the needs of LGBTQ+ audiences and the implications of these for developing effective, impactful marketing campaigns.

You will be an effective leader but also naturally inclusive in how you work and comfortable with being fully accountable.  You need to be prepared to spend 5-8 hours per week on this role, rising as we approach the period of the Pride in London festival.

Our volunteers are driven and passionate about what they do. Putting on one of London's largest one-day events requires dedication and perseverance. 

Although a lot of our work is completed remotely, there will be plenty of opportunities to meet with your team and others throughout the year to not only plan what's ahead but to socialise too.
