2022 marked the 50th anniversary of Pride in the UK which was an historic milestone; it's now an exciting time to join Pride in London as a volunteer as we build for the future!
Pride in London has a renewed sense of purpose to highlight the challenges still facing the LGBT+ community today despite progress. We are run by a group of volunteers who are passionate about equality and diversity and are drawn from all walks of life. Pride aims to raise awareness of LGBT+ issues and campaign for the freedoms that will allow all of our community to live their lives on a genuinely equal footing.
Around 150 people volunteer year-round to help us deliver what has become a world-class Pride. It is our intention for Pride in London to best represent all parts of our community.
We continue to actively encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, particularly women, people of colour and those from the trans and non-binary communities.
The role:
We are looking for a qualified legal expert to join us as Director of Legal - General Counsel as we embark on our next journey of growth and change.
The Director of Legal plays a key role in providing legal advice, mitigating legal risk, leading compliance enforcement and provides advisory to the executive team and Board. Additionally, this leader will drive all general commercial legal advice, mediations, contracts and supplier agreements.
Your responsibilities:
Autonomously & independently provide legal advice on all matters affecting the organisation, including the matters set out below, with minimal assistance required from external counsel:
Provide support for all governance and legal matters across the organisation, seeking advice from pro-bono General Counsel and / or outside counsel where required
Support with the CIC’s governance and related legal and regulatory compliance
Commercial advice, drafting and negotiation for a range of contracts including with public authorities, commercial suppliers, strategic partners and donors
Appropriate management of legal and commercial risks, including drafting and redrafting of relevant documentation
Advise senior management in relation to any legal claims by or against the organisation, seeking support from pro-bono General Counsel and outside counsel when required
What you’ll bring to the role
Qualified Lawyer in the UK or common law jurisdiction
Experience with community interest companies or charitable organisations (desirable)
Legal industry experience demonstrating the ability to interpret, draft and apply legal documents
A team player who is flexible and commercially minded
Good people and interpersonal skills with experience in communicating and influencing effectively across the organisation, including at senior and board level
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with Contract Law, GDPR, and Commercial Law (desirable)

Pride in London is wholly run by a group of volunteers who are passionate about equality and diversity. We are a not-for-profit organisation, and any surplus funds we raise are used to support the LGBT+ communities and improve the event.
Pride in London includes people of every race and faith, whether disabled or able-bodied, and all sexualities and genders including lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, queer, questioning, intersex, trans*, genderqueer, gender variant or non-binary as well as straight and cis allies.
