About Pride’s Got Talent 

Pride’s Got Talent is the brainchild of Ian Massa-Harris-McFeely and was conceived in 2014 to ensure the existing pool of talent in the LGBT+ community were given a fair chance to take part in Pride in London and were exposed to industry recognised judges to aid them in their artistic career. 

The rationale is that everyone, irrespective of gender, gender history, sexuality, disability or ethnicity is encouraged to enter the competition. This ensures that there is transparency and diversity when it comes to the Pride’s Got Talent performers on the Pride stages. 

Purpose of Role 

Pride’s Got Talent has developed into a community deliverable by Pride in London attracting a wide pool of national and international talent. The Head of Pride’s Got Talent will need to: 

  • Lead implementation of Pride’s Got Talent through management of the Pride’s Got Talent Team. 
  • Ensure a high quality delivery of Pride’s Got Talent so that it creates on and off-stage opportunities for participants, and that it offers further development opportunities 
  • Build partnerships to create and promote formal and informal development opportunities for the Pride’s Got Talent brand 

The role plays a key part in the team’s delivery of the Events Strategy. This role will report directly to the Deputy Events Director who is also the budget holder and approver for the activities of the Head of Pride’s Got Talent. 

Role responsibilities 


  • Recruitment of team & ongoing review of structure, roles and responsibilities of team regular, scheduled meetings with team 
  • Role model for Pride in London’s values and behaviours 
  • Support by providing the necessary tools/knowledge/experience to enable delivery of plans 
  • Identifies talent to ensure succession within team 
  • Set realistic objectives for team in line with HOS objectives 


  • Control of costs within budget set by Events Director 
  • Seeks out opportunities to reduce or remove costs, such production costs 


  • Ensure that production is in the interests of the LGBT+ community and meet with diversity and inclusion 
  • Maintain high levels of awareness surrounding current threats and challenges toward the LGBT+ Community - advises directors of risks and potential mitigation 

Pride in London 

  • Seeks out opportunity to extend & drive reach, propelling brand globally 

Pride’s Got Talent 

  • Lead and manage the Pride’s Got Talent Team 
  • Work closely with the Pride’s Got Talent Manager 
  • Overseeing the high quality realization of Pride’s Got Talent 
  • Assess potential auditionees for suitability to the competition 
  • Work with the Deputy Director of Events on overall strategy 
  • Work with Head of Stages to successfully coordinate the programming of Pride’s Got Talent finalists into the stage programmes 
  • Collaborate with Head and Talent & VIP on engagement and booking as required 
  • Work with Head of the Diary to programme Pride’s Got Talent acts into specific events 
  • Build and manage strong relationships with LGBT+ venues, festival organisers, suppliers, contractors and other key individuals and groups. 
  • Build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders in Pride in London 
  • Help source and build relationships with industry professionals to act as mentors, judges and future contacts 
  • Reporting on allocated Pride’s Got Talent budget and managing budget allocation 
  • Ensure all pre-arranged expenses are tracked and authorised accordingly. The expense policy will be given to the post holder 
  • Promoting good working practices and maintaining high production values at all times 
  • Lead and manage the Pride’s Got Talent Team 

Person Specification 

  • Planned, organised the ability to influence and communicate at all levels of the organisation as well as cross functionally 
  • Lead by example, a role model to direct reports and broader team, upholding Pride in London’s values 
  • Music / Cabaret / Performing Artist or Artist Management background 
  • Casting experience and talent management 
  • Music programming experience 
  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent professional qualification 
  • Post holder should hold a position of similar responsibility in a commercial environment 
  • Clear understanding of the Pride in London Strategic Direction 
  • Substantial proven experience of managing large scale events projects and delivering strategic growth. 
  • Proven experience of cross-team working to deliver successful projects, which contribute to organisational objectives. 
  • Endless enthusiasm, motivation and adaptability to frequently changing working environments, in the office and at event sites, leading a busy team. 
  • Ability to build, manage and develop relationships with a variety of stakeholders at all levels of an organization. 
  • Experience of managing and motivating volunteers, providing clear guidance and meaningful feedback on performance 
  • Experience of leading, managing and motivating a team 
  • Excellent written and numerical skills with the ability to analyse complex budgets and data. 
  • Ability to communicate complex information in an accessible way 
  • Ability to work varied hours (commitment to be discussed at interview)
