The Operations team manages all the events that happen at Pride in London on Saturday 27th June 2020 which include the Parade, the stages in Trafalgar, Leicester and Golden Square, the family area, World area, accessibility across the footprint plus the 1000+ volunteers who volunteer with us on the day.

The Sustainability Lead for the Operations Team will champion will provide advice and insight into ways to reduce the environmental impact of our event.  

Role responsibilities

Reporting to the Director and Deputy Director of Operations, your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop / implementation of a sustainability plan 
  • Organise and attend regular team meetings
  • Liaise with various teams essential to the event; production company, security stewards, Pride in London volunteers and other organisations such as local authorities.
  • Understanding of the key operational elements of the event
  • Understanding of Accessibility provision and its importance
  • Troubleshoot any potential operational issues
  • Coordinate and lead volunteer teams
  • Write and present a debrief of your area with recommendations / improvements for future years

Person specification

  • Enthusiastic and passionate about supporting the LGBT+ community 
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to set and work to deadlines. 
  • Great communicator, with the skills to discuss, develop and present new ideas. 
  • Creative thinker who is comfortable challenging convention
  • Self-motivated and has the confidence to solve problems independently
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders 
  • Has an understanding of how to motivate and engage volunteer teams
  • Ideally 2+ years experience with event / project management
  • Looking for an opportunity for personal development and to build your network

Requirement and commitment

This role requires a long-term commitment. Time required will vary week by week, and by team.  Team members will be able to share the workload. On average, you can expect the post to take 2-4 hours per week which will increase in the lead up to Pride.

Work can be done at home, although we will require attendance at regular Operations Team Meetings (usually on a Saturday morning in central London).
