Role Overview:
The Director of Communications role is pivotal, skillfully transmitting our message across diverse media channels, encompassing press releases, digital campaigns, print materials, social media, audio, and video. This role ensures the genuine representation of every facet of the LGBTQ+ community's voice, amplifying it effectively. Our mission revolves around leveraging our platform to drive substantial change.
As Director, you will actively shape and deliver our strategic communications plan while providing hands-on leadership to guide and nurture a dedicated volunteer team.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive strategic communications plans focused on long-term goals, maintaining editorial control over content accuracy, tone, and consistency
Lead crisis communication strategies, preparing statements and briefings for media and stakeholders
Proactively manage media relations to enhance our reputation and boost visibility locally, nationally, and internationally
Serve as spokesperson, engaging with journalists on high-profile and sensitive matters
Monitor and analyse media coverage to inform strategic decision-making
Direct Public Affairs, Social Media, and Web Development teams to ensure aligned communication strategy
Collaborate across internal teams to maintain consistent messaging
Drive creative and innovative communication initiatives to engage diverse audiences
Foster relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and influencers
What You'll Bring:
Strategic communications leadership experience or readiness to step up
Strong crisis management skills with ability to draft and present statements under pressure
Proven media relations experience, particularly with high-profile engagements
Keen eye for detail and ability to communicate in an engaging, trusted way
Strong analytical skills for monitoring and interpreting media coverage
Demonstrated team leadership and collaboration abilities
In-depth understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, diversity and inclusion
Professional approach to handling complex situations with tact

About Pride in London
Pride in London is run in majority by a group of volunteers who are passionate about equality and diversity. We are a not-for-profit organisation, and any surplus funds we raise are used to support the LGBTQ+ communities and improve the event.
Pride in London includes people of every race and faith, whether disabled or able-bodied, and all sexualities and genders including lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, queer, questioning, intersex, trans*, genderqueer, gender variant or non-binary as well as straight and cis allies.
