Your Role
As the Soho & Squares Deputy Team Lead, you will be responsible for jointly leading the Soho & Squares team within the busy Pride Operations Team. This role is responsible, alongside the Soho & Squares Team Lead, in co-ordinating, leading and managing the decision making and execution of all static spaces on the Pride Event Day including - Trafalgar Square, Soho Square, Leicester Square, Golden Square, Soho and two Grandstands. This role requires strong leadership skills as well as knowledge and ability in both event preparation and on the day execution.
This role has a flexible start time however we would be looking for someone who can start as soon as possible.
Availability to volunteer on the day of the event (Saturday 5th July) is essential.
Availability to attend in person Ops Meetings in Central London on the first Saturday of each month and all Saturdays across June is desired.
Availability to attend Team Lead meetings Tuesday evenings is desired.
The average weekly commitment would be up to and around 6 hours per week.
Your Responsibilities:
Oversee and Co-ordinate the Static Pride Footprint/Staged Areas: Oversee and be one of the lead decision makers across all static and ticketed spaces within the Pride Footprint during the preparation stages.
Deliver the Strategic Aims of the Event: Through close working with the Team Lead and wider Operations Team, deliver and contribute to the planning of the event and the Strategic Aims. Ensuring your vision aligns with that of the organisation.
Deputise the Soho & Squares Team Lead: Support and collaborate with the Soho & Squares Team Lead as well as Area Managers to operationally organise and advise on Event Day decisions both during preparation and on Event Day.
Supervise, Train and Manage Senior Volunteers: Recruit, train and empower a team of dedicated area managers and supervisors to be able to lead and manage specific areas of the footprint independently.
Respond Quickly and Effectively to Onsite Incidents and Emergencies: Be a key point of contact between members of the public, event control, security and external resources. Communicate incidents and emergencies to the relevant teams and be the first level of senior response to different scenarios.
Be the Face of Pride: Uphold Pride Values and Ways of Working within these public sites and alongside external staff.
Document and Capture Event Details and Success/Failures: Take detailed feedback from personal experiences, volunteers, external staff and members of the public and deliver through the correct channels to help improve and strengthen the event.

Confidence and Self Awareness: A strong sense of leadership, with self awareness of strengths and weaknesses, and an ability to work well with others in making decisions and getting tasks done.
Experience Working and Multitasking Under Pressure: An ability to delegate tasks, being able to prioritise steps in solving problems, and self managing your task list on the day.
Excellent People Management Skills: Previous experience managing a variety of people from different backgrounds and an ability to both empathise and collaborate with various individuals.
Excellent Levels of Communication Skill: An ability to communicate clearly, concisely and unbiasedly both in person to members of the public, volunteers and members of external teams as well as over a radio.
Enthusiasm and Positivity: An ability to keep morale high and ensure members of the public and on the day volunteers have the best Pride Day possible.
Adaptability and Strong Decision Making Skills: A strong confidence and background in making decisions quickly and safely, alongside an ability to take situations on a case by case basis and adapt to the situation in front.
Commitment to Inclusivity: A deep understanding and respect for LGBTQIA+ rights, with a commitment to ensuring a positive and inclusive event experience. An awareness and understanding of accessibility and how to champion accessibility within the event.
Previous Event Management Experience is not essential but highly desired.

Pride in London is run in majority by a group of volunteers who are passionate about equality and diversity. We are a not-for-profit organisation, and any surplus funds we raise are used to support the LGBTQ+ communities and improve the event.
