With a diverse and dedicated year-round team of around 150 volunteers, we orchestrate Pride in London, the incredible event that unites us all. Your unique voice can contribute to the symphony!

Are you passionate about creating inclusive spaces and removing barriers for
LGBTQ+ individuals? We are seeking a dedicated Head and Deputy Head of
Accessibility & Quiet Pride to lead our accessibility strategy and ensure Pride in
London is welcoming for all.
In this senior volunteer role, you will act as the organisation’s primary accessibility
advocate, embedding accessibility across all Pride in London activities and Quiet
Pride initiatives. You will lead the design and delivery of access provisions for
parades, stages, grandstands, and sensory-friendly spaces, ensuring compliance
with disability-led and trauma-informed practices.
Working closely with event operations and community partners, you will oversee
accessibility logistics, manage accreditation processes (including maintaining Gold
Level status with Attitude is Everything), and mentor the Access Management Team.
This role also involves safeguarding, risk management, and championing continuous
improvement to create a safe, inclusive, and celebratory environment for everyone.
Your leadership will directly impact how thousands experience Pride in London. Let’s

Your Responsibilities
The Head of Accessibility & Quiet Pride will be responsible for the following key areas:
Strategic Leadership, Advocacy & Organisational Influence: Acts as the organisation’s primary accessibility advocate and public representative; Ensures accessibility remains central to strategy, planning and delivery across Quiet Pride and Pride in London activities; Leads decision-making for the Access function, removes barriers, and acts as the main project owner for accessibility partnerships and accreditations; Influences accessibility practice across all organisational workstreams and event operations.
Accessibility Design, Standards & Communications: Leads the design and implementation of access provision across parades, grandstands, stages and event spaces; Develops policies, procedures and practical guidelines to embed disability-led, trauma-informed and inclusive practice; Ensures public access information is communicated in accessible formats across website, apps and social platforms.
Operations, Logistics & Event Delivery: Oversees planning and delivery of access provision for major events (including parade routes, quiet spaces, grandstands and stages); Ensures accessibility is embedded in wider event management and production planning; Oversees access provision for additional events such as talent shows, briefings, community meetings and gala events.
Safeguarding, Risk & Wellbeing:Leads safeguarding and risk management frameworks with a focus on physical, sensory and emotional safety; Acts as the production company’s primary point of contact on the day for access needs, decision-making and escalation.
People Leadership, Volunteers & Partnerships: Mentors and leads the Accessibility/Access Management Team throughout the year; Oversees recruitment, training and coordination of Access Volunteers; Builds and sustains strong relationships with organisational teams, external providers and community partners; Leads budget oversight in collaboration with Finance and Operations and manages supplier relationships for quality and value for money.
Accreditation, Monitoring & Continuous Improvement: Leads organisational strategy and delivery for accessibility accreditations, including Attitude is Everything; Ensures systems, evidence and practice are in place to achieve and maintain Gold Level status; Leads evaluation, learning and longer-term sustainability planning.
The Deputy Head of Accessibility & Quiet Pride will be responsible for the following key areas:
Strategic Leadership, Advocacy & Organisational Influence: Proactively champions accessibility and inclusion across the organisation; Supports the development and delivery of accessibility strategy aligned with organisational values; Acts as a trusted subject-matter contributor on inclusive practice and access.
Accessibility Design, Standards & Communications: Supports implementation of access standards across events and content; Helps translate strategy into practical, accessible guidance for teams, volunteers and partners; Contributes to the development of accessible communications with digital and content teams.
Operations, Logistics & Event Delivery: Supports operational planning and coordinates on-the-day accessibility delivery; Acts as a key operational lead for the Access Team during live events; Troubleshoots accessibility issues in real time under the direction of the Head.
Safeguarding, Risk & Wellbeing: Supports the implementation of safeguarding procedures; Acts as a first responder for access issues, wellbeing concerns and reasonable adjustment requests from volunteers and participants.
People Leadership, Volunteers & Partnerships: Recruits and supports volunteers, particularly disabled and neurodivergent volunteers; Delivers and coordinates access training for stewards, supervisors and specialist volunteers (including BSL interpreters); Identifies and responds to volunteer access requirements, implementing tailored adjustments; Maintains strong relationships with charity and community partners.
Accreditation, Monitoring & Continuous Improvement: Supports day-to- day delivery of accreditation requirements; Helps gather evidence, feedback and impact data; Champions continuous improvement and best practice, supporting the ongoing attainment of Gold Level accessibility standards.
What you'll bring to Pride in London
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic, technical, and leadership skills, including:
Strategic Accessibility Leadership: Proven ability to advocate for accessibility at an organisational level, influencing strategy and embedding inclusive practices across all Pride in London activities.
Expertise in Accessibility Standards & Inclusive Design: Strong knowledge of disability-led and trauma-informed approaches, with experience designing access provisions for large-scale events, including sensory-friendly spaces.
Event Operations & Risk Management Skills: Ability to oversee accessibility logistics for parades, stages, and quiet zones, while managing safeguarding and risk frameworks to ensure physical, sensory, and emotional safety.
Accreditation & Compliance Experience: Familiarity with accessibility accreditation processes (e.g., Attitude is Everything) and commitment to maintaining Gold Level standards through evidence-based practice.
People Leadership & Volunteer Management: Demonstrated experience mentoring teams, recruiting and training volunteers (including disabled and neurodivergent individuals), and fostering an inclusive culture.
Partnership Building & Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to develop strong relationships with community partners, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver high-quality accessibility solutions.
Project Management & Organisational Skills: Skilled in managing multiple complex projects under pressure, with strong organisational and time- management capabilities.
Knowledge of Web Accessibility & Digital Inclusion: Understanding of WCAG standards and accessible communication practices to ensure all public-facing information is inclusive and easy to navigate.

Pride in London is run in majority by a group of volunteers who are passionate about equality and diversity. We are a not-for-profit organisation, and any surplus funds we raise are used to support the LGBTQ+ communities and improve the event.
